Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

Mary Poppins Returns is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall, with a screenplay by David Mageeand from a story by Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca. A sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins, the film stars Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and Angela Lansbury in supporting roles. Set in 1930s London, 25 years after the events of the 1964 film, it sees Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks, re-visiting them after a family tragedy. Dick Van Dyke is the only original actor to return in the sequel.

Principal photography began at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, United Kingdom on February 10, 2017, and ended in July of that year. The film is scheduled for release on December 25, 2018,[1] giving it the longest gap between live-action film sequels in history at 54 years.


Set in 1930s London, Jane and Michael Banks are now grown-up, with Michael still living in the house on Cherry Tree Lane. He lives there with his three children, Annabel, John, and George, and the housekeeper named Ellen. After Michael suffers a personal loss, Mary Poppins comes back to the Banks family with street lamplighter Jack, and eccentric cousin Topsy
